To that end, Deloitte surveyed 50 clinical leaders in early May and recently released results. At the top of those leaders’ minds is a concern for a second wave of infection (82% of respondents, in fact, had this as their top worry).  Not surprisingly, the survey also revealed that essentially all organizations are taking steps to both prepare for and do all in their power to forestall such a public health relapse. Saluting the resilience of COVID-19 Changemakers” from Healthcare Purchasing News highlights some of the ways MedSpeed customers are leveraging logistics to solve supply chain challenges during the pandemic. Read the article here. 

One such example is from our customer, Northwestern Medicine, who was recently featured in a Healthcare Purchasing News article. Northwestern Medicine is improving the health of the communities it serves by addressing the needs of the most vulnerable populations. Senior citizens are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19 and are also one of the largest demographics at risk for food insecurity in our country. To ensure that Chicago senior citizens had the food they need, while also fostering safe social distancing, Northwestern Medicine collaborated with Our Lady of Angels Food Pantry and MedSpeed.

When Washington State became the first U.S. epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, the team at MultiCare Health System quickly recognized the urgency of securing as many ventilators as possible to provide adequate care to patients in their community. Shortages were already beginning and MultiCare was forced to think creatively. They partnered with an unlikely source: a veterinary hospital agreed to allow MultiCare Health System to borrow its stock of ventilators for the duration of the pandemic. (more…)

The way you all have risen to the challenge this year and stepped forward is exceptional and a testament to your commitment to our mission.  Second, are MedSpeed‘s customers, our partners.  I thank them for their work on the front line of the battle against this insidious pandemic.  I do so as well for the way they have locked arms with us and given us a purpose and role to play in this vital effort.

In the early days of the pandemic before CHI Franciscan had the ability to test in house, they needed to send samples to the University of Washington lab. As the logistics provider for CHI Franciscan, MedSpeed worked with Bradfield and her team to set up a specimen pickup process from each hospital every two hours, 24×7. With frequent loops to the testing facility, CHI Franciscan received faster test results for treatment. (more…)

A few months ago, MedSpeed got the phone call that we were not being renewed, something we have only experienced three times in our history. This news really, really hurt. But we did our best to shake it off and commit to learning from the pain. Taking this positive thought forward, we operated with excellence until our final day, at which point we shut down and dismantled our local operations. (more…)
