A transformative year for MedSpeed – 2025 reflections
December 18, 2025
By Wes Crampton, MedSpeed President
As we close out 2025 at MedSpeed, I’m filled with gratitude, pride, and a fresh sense of momentum. This year was more than another chapter, it was one of transformation, precision, and purpose.
Together, we achieved remarkable milestones:
- 99.9% quality rating
- 99% customer retention
- 6 new locations (one that brought us into our 33rd state)
- 138 new MedSpeeders
- 99.7% of LSRs achieved 4- and 5-star driver status…
- …as they drove enough miles to circle the Earth 3,568 times!
Twenty-five years of moving healthcare forward
In April, we celebrated a special achievement, our 25-year anniversary. From a university project in 2000 to a national network spanning 33 states serving 29 of the top 100 health systems, our journey demonstrates the importance of strategic partnership in logistics.
Our people are the heart of MedSpeed, and in 2025, they continued to go above and beyond:
- A logistics service representative (or LSR, our term for our drivers) in Minnesota helped put out a truck fire on the side of the road. After confirming the driver was safe, the LSR returned to her route, with her deliveries still on time.
- Over 20 MedSpeeders rose to the challenge when a devastating fire disrupted a health system, by quickly mobilizing to keep essential care moving. Their teamwork, communication, and commitment underscored our resilience for our customers.
- Two of our MedSpeeders in Illinois celebrated 25 years with MedSpeed. Over two decades of delivering health is no small feat. Their daily commitment stands as an inspiring example of what it means to be part of something bigger than yourself.
These examples are just a small fraction of the stories I hear throughout our organization. Every day, MedSpeeders illustrate what sets us apart: adaptability, collaboration, and heart, ensuring healthcare keeps moving no matter the circumstance.
Uncovering new insights
2025 brought more valuable insights into the critical role of quality last-mile logistics in healthcare:
- Our survey with CAP Today found that 99 percent of lab professionals say medical courier services impact their work weekly, and 84 percent reported that courier delays or errors affected timely patient results.
- An eye-opening white paper we co-published with L.E.K. Consulting revealed that avoidable medical courier errors cost average-sized U.S. health systems over $1 million annually, due to mishandled specimens alone.
- We also had the privilege of connecting and collaborating with health system, supply chain, and lab leaders at a range of industry events. One such event was the 2025 Executive War College Conference, where MedSpeed sponsored and moderated an informative panel focused on the future of laboratory operations and logistics with input from Sam Terese (Alverno Laboratories), Eric Carbonneau (TriCore), and Jennifer Fralick (Stanford Health Care).
Innovation in motion
At MedSpeed, progress never stands still. This year was not only one of performance but also of advancement. We continued to invest in innovation that drives measurable results for our customers.
- This year, we launched a new routing system, leveraging advanced analytics and machine learning to optimize routes in real time. These improvements have increased efficiency and reliability, reduced fuel consumption, improved delivery precision, and lowered costs.
- We enhanced our customer portal to provide even greater visibility and control in managing their logistics networks. With upgraded tracking features, smarter reporting, and more seamless communication tools, our customers have the insights they need to make faster, more informed decisions.
Making a difference in our communities
Giving back is at the core of who we are. As part of our 25th anniversary, MedSpeed launched “Fueling Hope, One Pint at a Time,” encouraging MedSpeeders to donate at blood donation centers across the country. This initiative reminds us that our mission extends beyond logistics: we deliver health in more ways than one, and we actively support the communities where we work and live.
Driving toward a sustainable future
In 2025, we reached our goal of electrifying 25 percent of our eligible fleet. Achieving this milestone represents more than a fleet upgrade, it’s the outcome of a shared commitment to sustainability, innovation, and smarter operations.
With thanks for every mile and movement
To all MedSpeeders: thank you for your hard work and dedication. To our customers, partners, and communities: thank you for trusting us.
Here’s to 2026 and the next mile of impact.
