Driving healthcare innovation with smart financial leadership
An interview with MedSpeed’s CFO
April 9, 2026
Financial strategy – the disciplined management of resources, investments, and operations to drive growth, optimize performance, and sustain long-term results – has never been more critical for healthcare. For Ross Lieb, MedSpeed’s CFO, it’s more than numbers; it’s the framework for innovation and operational excellence.
I spoke with Ross to learn more about his journey to MedSpeed, how finance drives smarter operations, and what lies ahead for MedSpeed and our customers.
The journey to MedSpeed
Tell us about your career journey and what led you to MedSpeed.
I earned my MBA at the University of Chicago – where the idea for MedSpeed began – with a data-driven focus at the intersection of finance, strategy, and operations. Early on in my career, I realized the power of translating data into actionable insights that drive growth and efficiency. It’s a perspective that has guided my career ever since.
I carried that approach into my roles at Deloitte and EVRAZ followed by Antylia Scientific where I helped reshape the commercial organization, implemented global pricing governance, and led major strategic investments that expanded the company’s capabilities and market presence.
Those experiences, leading complex M&A transactions and driving financial and operational improvements across global operations, prepared me to step into this role. I’m excited to continue partnering with my team and across the organization to drive growth, performance, and the next phase of expansion.
What excites you most about stepping into the role of CFO at MedSpeed?
MedSpeed plays a leading role in patient care, especially as more care moves into the home and last-mile delivery becomes critical.
Beyond the services, it’s the people who make the organization. I was drawn to join a team that enables patient care with advanced analytics and innovation to improve healthcare delivery. It’s inspiring to see their commitment to MedSpeed’s vision of moving healthcare forward.
Priorities for growth and service
What priorities are top of mind for you in supporting MedSpeed’s continued growth while maintaining the high level of service our customers rely on?
My team’s priorities are operational excellence, strategic growth, and customer-focused innovation, all grounded in our core values. We continue to invest in analytics and focus on high-impact initiatives, supported by strong people, processes, and technology. This approach enables consistent service, disciplined growth, and improved visibility and efficiency for our customers.
How do you see your team partnering across the organization to drive innovation and efficiency across MedSpeed?
I’ve been impressed with MedSpeed’s data-driven focus and the way we partner cross-functionally to deliver real-time insights across our 52 markets and more than 100 hubs. Our innovation is driven by strong data architecture, including telematics, opportunity modeling, and fleet optimization to align with demand.
Equally important is our culture of continuous improvement and teamwork. I’ve seen true partnership across MedSpeed, and that collaboration drives us to keep improving, invest in our team, and deliver for our customers.
Future trends and their impact on logistics
What opportunities do you see for MedSpeed to leverage AI in driving smarter financial and operational decisions?
MedSpeed has been at the forefront of investing in advanced analytics and thoughtfully leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Our analytics team utilizes machine learning to optimize routing and deploys predictive algorithms to support key initiatives, including forecasting turnover, mileage, and driving safety. These insights allow us to operate more efficiently as an organization as well as help our customers lower costs through greater efficiency while maintaining reliable, high-quality service.
AI also accelerates code development and streamlines analytical workflows, for faster insights and development. These capabilities have strengthened collaboration across the broader organization. Investments from MedSpeed in AI will continue to increase over the coming years to support predictive analytics and dynamic route optimization to continue to improve patient care and outcomes.
Looking ahead, what financial trends will have the greatest impact on healthcare logistics and how is MedSpeed adapting?
Advanced analytics and artificial intelligence are becoming more important in operational and financial decision-making. Logistics organizations that use predictive insights to optimize routing, anticipate demand, and manage resources efficiently will be better positioned to maintain performance as labor and fuel costs pressure margins.
We are also seeing growing demand for visibility and data transparency across healthcare supply chains. Providers want real-time insights, performance metrics, and end-to-end tracking to support faster, more informed decisions.
At MedSpeed, we are strengthening our operational and data infrastructure. Our finance and analytics teams work closely to model scenarios, evaluate investments, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency. By investing in predictive analytics, advanced technology, and cross-functional collaboration, we are positioning MedSpeed as a single partner delivering end-to-end visibility and seamless execution across the care continuum.
Ross’s perspective highlights how financial and analytical strategy plays a critical role in powering MedSpeed’s operations and long-term vision. As the company continues to grow, that focus will help ensure MedSpeed remains a trusted partner to healthcare organizations across the country.
