It is particularly special as it is a milestone in a journey that began more than 20 years ago at Chicago Booth.
In 1998, Jake was working on a final project for Professor James Schrager’s New Venture Strategy course, when his close friend and classmate, Everett Truitt, came up with the seed of an idea that would later become MedSpeed. Professor Schrager suggested that they enter the concept into the Edward L. Kaplan, ’71, New Venture Challenge, then in its second year. MedSpeed won the top prize and Jake changed his post-graduation plans to venture into the unknown to launch MedSpeed.
Before MedSpeed, healthcare executives rarely accounted for same-day logistics when considering the major drivers of optimum performance. Over the last two decades, we’ve helped healthcare leaders to transform logistics from a cost center to a strategic asset that delivers significant value by supporting care delivery.
This transformative idea has been embraced by the industry, causing our company to grow from a Chicago-based startup into the market leader. Today, our customers include 25 of the top 100 health systems in the country and we have nearly 3,000 MedSpeeders in 140 hub operations across 30 states.
